2016 Naissante Pinot Noir
The 2016 vintage is characterized by very dry conditions and generally warm temperatures. Budburst commenced early in 2016 with strong canopy growth by January. The result has been wines that have developed ripe flavours at moderate potential alcohol with medium to high natural acidity, providing the backbone, elegance and finesse that defines the Delamere wines
The fruit for the 2016 Pinot Noir is sourced from specific growers around the Tamar Valley and released under the side-project label Naissante.
Naissante was born from the opportunity to work with a number of interesting, high-quality vineyards around Tasmania
Made using the same approach as the Delamere Pinot Noir, the wine sees hand harvesting, wild yeast fermentation, 30-40% whole bunch inclusion, hand plunging and matured in French barriques.
A ripe and juicy Pinot Noir showing plum, red cherries, red currants, and ripe strawberry characteristics. A hint of earthiness combines subtly with sweet spice to create a complex and very drinkable wine.
The Naissante Pinot Noir is the perfect match to Tasmanian quail, garlicky lamb cutlets and charcuterie.
